“We are big enough to be competitive and at the same time, small enough to care.”
— Andy Griffiths, Brother and director
Our story
Founded in 1972 by Thomas Griffiths our busy little firm is now nearly 50 years old.
A family business
We are a business built on referral. Customer care and satisfaction are at the centre of what we are all about. Founded in 1972 by Thomas Griffiths our busy little firm is now nearly 50 years old. The family have worked hard together over the years to forge a reputation for passion, pride and enthusiasm for the fresh produce business.
Randall and Andrew, who still work hard daily within the business, have handed over the reins to the third generation Tom, Verne and Andy.
Our company started life as a wholesaler to the local shops and independent stores of Brighton and surrounding areas. Since then we have seen the business move towards the food service sector. With a long-established network of local growers, the best British growers and direct foreign imports, we have become a hub of fantastic fresh produce supply.
What we offer
Our procurement and sourcing is done with great care. We are always focussed on finding the best value, quality and freshness. Stock arrives into us directly from growers both in the UK and Europe on a daily basis.
We are open on site from 2am until 11am. Some customers prefer to come to market in the morning and hand pick their produce.
With our extensive fleet of vehicles, we can cope with any size of delivery. Large wholesale orders are carried by our lorries, and smaller orders are served by our vans. We offer daily deliveries to the whole of Sussex.
Our aim
Our aim as a company is to make your job of sourcing the best fresh produce, easy. We pride ourselves in always providing the best quality and value that is available, and we understand that happy customers always return for more!
We strive to be at the cutting edge, any new products or new developments with the industry are sampled and promoted, innovation is always at our core.
We have worked hard over the past five years to make our business as environmentally responsible as possible. Investing in electric forklifts, biodegradable packing, recycling all our cardboard and plastic waste, are amongst just some of the systems we now have in place.
Our facility
15 years ago we moved from the centre of Brighton to our current site at Crowhurst Road in Hollingbury.
Positioning ourselves on the edge of Brighton, close to the A27 and M23, has improved our delivery service greatly and our business has grown because of this.
We are fully equipped with a ripening room for pineapples, avocados and bananas, which helps us reach you with fruit that meets your requirements perfectly.
We also have a massive 250 pallet cold store for all our vegetables, mushrooms, salads and herbs. With this we can navigate our stock requirements and avoid any supply issues.
The stand here is a bright, vibrant and busy place in the mornings. With the constant fresh arrivals each day, the place really has a buzz about it.
